Genetics: Alzheimer disease.

چکیده
Informative genetic testing is currently available to only a small number of families with a history of early-onset (younger than 60 years of age) Alzheimer disease (AD). For these families, the benefits of genetic testing are limited and are mainly related to the individual’s perception of the psychological advantages of knowing whether or not he or she is predisposed to develop AD. There remains no cure or effective preventive therapy for AD. Bottom line. Genetic testing is not feasible for most cases of AD at this time. Apolipoprotein E gene variations alone cannot be used to predict future disease occurrence. Rare families with a history of early-onset AD might be eligible for genetic testing, while families with multiple relatives affected with late-onset AD (60 years of age and older) might be eligible to participate in AD research studies. Probability Model of Allele Frequency of Alzheimer’s Disease Genetic Risk Factor
Background and Purpose: The identification of genetics risk factors of human diseases is very important. This study is conducted to model the allele frequencies (AFs) of Alzheimer’s disease. Materials and Methods: In this study, several candidate probability distributions are fitted on a data set of Alzheimer’s disease genetic risk factor. Unknown parameters of the considered dis...
متن کاملP90: The Relationship between the TNFα of the Microglia Cells and the Alzheimer Disease
TNFα is one of the most important inflammatory cytokines which induces caspase and apoptotic process. There are two forms of TNFα: soluble TNFα (solTNFα) and transmembrane TNFα (tmTNFα). These inflammatory cytokines have two receptors namely TNRF1 and TNRF2. The attachments of the cytokines to those receptors induce the TRAF and activate the NK-Kb. TNFR1 is f...

Alzheimer's disease is the most common and well - known cause of dementia, as a progressive, irreversible brain disorder that affects cognitive function, personality, thought, perception and behaviour. Alzheimer's disease is the fourth leading cause of death in western countries. Interesting to know that this disease was unknown in medical community till 100 years ago and had no name. Dr. Alois...

Alzheimer disease represents an insidious impairment of intellect and emotional well-being. However, recent advances in biochemical pathology and human genetics offer promise that effective therapeutic agents may soon be developed.
متن کاملVariation in the urokinase-plasminogen activator gene does not explain the chromosome 10 linkage signal for late onset AD.
Linkage studies indicate that the same region of chromosome 10 contains a risk locus for late onset Alzheimer disease (LOAD) and a QTL for plasma Abeta42 levels suggesting that a single locus may influence risk for AD by elevating plasma Abeta42 [Ertekin-Taner et al., 2000; Myers et al., 2000]. A strong positional and biological candidate is the urokinase-plasminogen activator (PLAU) gene. Eigh...
